Boeing announced a temporary suspension of production of its embattled 737 Max jet.
"We will continue to assess our progress towards return to service milestones and make determinations about resuming production and deliveries accordingly," Boeing officials said in a statement.
The January suspension, which comes more than nine months into the plane's safety crisis, is not expected to produce layoffs or furloughs.
