Republic-based Black Lab Coffee Co. has closed its shop in downtown Springfield.
A Facebook post from the company indicated Dec. 17 was the last day open for the store at 300 W. McDaniel St.
"It has been a difficult decision to make. We thank you all for three great years in downtown Springfield and are very grateful for you all and the regulars that have become like family," the post reads.
The post additionally states the company is seeking a "better location to serve you ... and something else exciting," with more details to be released.
Black Lab Coffee's locations in Galloway Village and Republic remain open, according to the post.
Black Lab Coffee, owned by Case Howard and Christa Stephens, opened its first location in 2018 and expanded to downtown Springfield in December 2020, according to past reporting. Its Galloway Village shop launched in September 2021.
Black Lab’s menu includes hot, iced and frozen coffee drinks named after dogs, such as the Bulldog and Goldendoodle.
Attempts to reach ownership for additional comment were unsuccessful by deadline.
