Bass Pro, EBSCO Industries settle lawsuit

Posted online
According to a court resolution reported May 24 by The Birmingham News, Springfield-based Bass Pro Shops Inc. and Birmingham, Ala.-based EBSCO Industries have settled their differences, and all claims against Bass Pro in a patent infringement lawsuit have been dropped.

According to the story,  the companies have said they "resolved all issues" raised in the suit that was filed in February in U.S. District Court in Birmingham. Terms of the settlement were not included in the news coverage.

The suit claimed four tree stand models and two brackets sold by Bass Pro infringed on a patent EBSCO was awarded in 2009 for a tree-stand foothold that allows hunters to secure their feet on platforms beneath their seats, helping to prevent falls.

Officials with both companies said in a joint statement that they are glad to have been able to resolve the suit in a way that satisfies both parties, the story said.[[In-content Ad]]
