Dr. Curtis Schreiber, a St. John's neurologist, saw his first patient at the new Alzheimer's Disease and Memory Disorders Center April 13.
The center is located at the northeast corner of the Nutrition Center at the Hammons Heart Institute, 1235 E. Cherokee. Schreiber, a St. John's employee for the past seven years, is the medical director for the center.
"At this time, we're only taking patients on a physician's referral," he said. A doctor's decision to refer "depends on their clinical impression," Schreiber said,
"They might send people who have problems (the doctor) can't manage, and may send me someone who's borderline either the patient or the doctor is not sure if the person has a memory disorder and wants to go ahead and check it out."
