Robert Low, president of Springfield-based trucking company Prime Inc., was one of 10 individuals honored June 5 with an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. The award, now in its 26th year, recognizes the contributions of people who inspire others through their vision, leadership and achievement. An independent judging panel of previous winners selected this year’s winners, and Low was an honoree for the central Midwest region. Other Springfield-area businessmen to receive the Ernst & Young award are Bob Noble of Noble Communications, a 2001 regional Entrepreneur of the Year, and Bill Darr of American Dehydrated Foods, a 1992 Master Entrepreneur for the Kansas/Western Missouri Region.

Mayor Bob Stephens, far right, cut the ceremonial ribbon alongside several city and county leaders at the June 14 dedication of the Springfield Wagon at the K-Park portion of downtown’s Jordan Valley Park. Rotary Club of Springfield Southeast and the Springfield-Greene County Park Board hosted the ceremony for the play feature that was inspired by the Springfield Wagon Co., which built thousands of wagons in Springfield between 1872 and 1941. The $50,000 play wagon was designed and built by GameTime and was funded by the Rotary Club of Springfield Southeast, which also donated funds for the Kinetic “K-Man” in the children’s play area of Jordan Valley Park.
