T-Mobile US Inc. (Nasdaq: TMUS) conducted a round of layoffs at its Springfield call center.
Lyssa Hansen, communications manager for T-Mobile's Central Region, said "a small number of roles have been eliminated." She declined to disclose the number of layoffs.
"As we continue to hire top talent ... we are also making normal course-of-business organizational shifts in some areas of the company that will allow us to better focus our resources on being in the places where customers want and need us to be," Hansen said via email. "These shifts primarily affect a small number of back-of-house management and administrative roles."
She said most of the impacted employees have been offered different roles within T-Mobile.
T-Mobile employed 850 in the Springfield area as of spring 2021, according to SpringfieldRegion.com.
In 2020, T-Mobile extended its lease for the 78,000-square-foot property that opened in 2006 at 2645 N. Airport Plaza Ave., according to past reporting.
Moseley’s Discount Office Products was purchased; Side Chick opened in Branson; and the Springfield franchise store of NoBaked Cookie Dough changed ownership.
