The Missouri Department of Transportation was awarded an $81 million federal grant from the Department of Transportation's Infrastructure for Rebuilding America program.
The grant is earmarked to help pay for a replacement of the Interstate 70 bridge over the Missouri River near Rocheport. The project site is just outside Columbia.
The bridge carries some 12.5 million vehicles per year. It was constructed in 1960.
