A Springfield sushi restaurant in business since 2021 has closed.
Officials with SushiFork Springfield announced in a Facebook post last month that April 14 was the restaurant's final day in business. The restaurant operated near the Battlefield Road and National Avenue intersection.
"What a wild ride it has been. We put in so much hard work. We had absolutely no idea what we were doing but we learned so much," the post reads, noting the business is “still interested in reopening in a smaller location.”
“Things did not work out for us on Battlefield, but we are thankful for the time we got to spend with our family,” the post continues.
Through the end of April, the restaurant gave away its remaining inventory, according to separate Facebook posts.
SushiFork Springfield opened in a space that previously housed Pie Five Pizza Co. at 1008 E. Battlefield Road, according to past reporting. Pie Five closed in 2019.
The restaurant was launched by Ben and Ashley Cross, Springfield Business Journal previously reported. The concept combines fork and chopsticks cutlery for its menu of customizable sushi rolls.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
