After receiving a request for an audit through a petition containing 27 signatures of registered resident voters from McCord Bend in Stone County, the Missouri auditor's office has begun an audit of that community.
According to state statutes, 21 signatures are required for the audit, and the entity being audited must pay for the audit. State auditors have begun the information-gathering phase of the audit.
When the audit is completed, the findings and recommendations will be delivered by the state auditor's office at a public meeting. The Missouri auditor's office just recently made public its findings and recommendations after auditing Stone County.
