Ann Meese accepted the position of director of Springfield Catholic Schools, effective July 1, 1999. Meese holds both a bachelor of science in education and a master's degree in education administration from SMSU. She has been employed with Springfield Catholic Schools for 25 years, serving in the capacities of high school teacher, assistant principal and principal. Meese served as principal of Immaculate Conception Elementary School for the past 11 years, and also performed the duties of interim director during the 1998-99 school year.

Paula Baird accepted the position of principal for Immaculate Conception Elementary School, effective July 1, 1999. She has a bachelor of science degree in education from SMSU, and she completed her master's in education administration at SMSU in 1997. Baird has 22 years of experience in the education field, 17 of those in the Springfield Catholic School System, serving as a third-grade teacher, special services coordinator and girls tennis coach at Springfield Catholic High School. She has been assistant principal at Immaculate Conception Elementary School for the past five years. Her duties as principal will be to supervise the 45-member faculty and staff of the elementary school.

David H. Hodge has been named account executive for southwest Missouri at 1st Union Home Equity Bank. Hodge has been in the mortgage business for 16 years, holding various positions which include vice-president of a mortgage company. His duties as account executive at 1st Union Home Equity Bank will be marketing non-conforming mortgage products to brokers and bankers across the area.

Elliott, Robinson and Company LLP has added four accountants to its staff:

Lisa Ellerman is a 1991 graduate of Missouri Southern State College. Ellerman worked at a CPA firm in Springfield for two years, then worked in private accounting. Her responsibilities at Elliott, Robinson and Company will be to work on payroll and prepare corporate and individual tax returns.

Bill Wake graduated in 1998 from Drury College, after serving in the United States Navy. His duties will be the preparation of corporate and individual tax returns.

Shawnna Sanders attended Crowder College and will graduate from SMSU in December 1999. As a staff accountant at Elliott Robinson, Sanders will prepare tax returns for corporations and individuals.

Michelle Kellogg attended SMSU for three years and has two years of general accounting experience with a CPA firm. She will do general accounting for Elliott Robinson, including payroll tax returns and corporate financial statements.

David Mitchell joined the staff at the Forest Institute of Professional Psychology as the director of community relations. Mitchell graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in journalism. He has worked at television news stations such as KQTV in St. Joseph, KMIZ in Columbia and KYTV locally. Prior to joining the Forest Institute, Mitchell worked for seven years as the assistant director of public relations at Drury College.

Rex Harris, CRS, has been appointed broker at Queen City Realty. He has been a broker in Springfield for 15 years, starting at the former Strout Realty. Harris will manage 12 agents and plans to buy a Better Homes & Gardens franchise. He will work mostly with investors, and his agents will help first-time buyers with zero down payment homes.
