MAPS at Burrell
An asset purchase completed June 25 has merged Neuropsychological Associates of Southwest Missouri PC with Burrell Behavioral Health Inc. Dale Halfaker, co-founder and owner of NASM, said he and psychologists Steven Akeson and Michael Walsh will remain on staff at the 4350 S. National Ave. psychological evaluation and counseling practice. He declined to disclose terms of the deal, which will allow he, Akeson and Walsh to keep their practices, with Burrell to handle overhead costs. Halfaker said he was impressed with Burrell’s momentum and new vision since CEO C.J. Davis took over last year. “There seemed to be a lot of positive changes, a lot of positive energy,” Halfaker said. NASM’s name will transition to MAPS at Burrell, he said, noting the acronym stands for Midwest Assessment & Psychotherapy Solutions. He said six employees work at the 3,500-square-foot facility.

Regent Bank
With three locations in Oklahoma, the first full-service branch of Regent Bank in Missouri opened May 29 at 3271 E. Battlefield Road, Ste. 100. A loan production office had been set up in February in temporary space before bank branch renovations were done. Springfield branch President Craig Dunn said Regent Bank targets small to midsize businesses and offers no-fee checking for nonprofits and business accounts, as well as commercial loans of up to $20 million. Mobile banking, including a Regent Bank app, is available, as is online banking and remote deposit. The bank signed a lease totaling $1.2 million for an undisclosed period through Sachs Real Properties LLC, and invested $500,000 in improvements of the former Regions Bank building. As of late June, Tulsa, Oklahoma-based Regent Bank had assets of nearly $510 million, deposits of $450 million and loans of $470 million. Regent Chairman and CEO Sean Kouplen said bank officials were drawn to Springfield’s consistent economy with less dependence on oil and gas than its Oklahoma markets.

Springfield Diner LLC
First-time restaurant owner Omer Onder has set up shop at the Southgate Shopping Center, opening Springfield Diner LLC on May 17. The 42-seat eatery, located at 1730 E. Republic Road, Ste. U, serves breakfast and lunch during all hours of operation, said Manager Angie Day. Onder declined to disclose startup costs, as well as the rate of the four-year lease through Southgate Shopping Center LLC. A former resident of Turkey, Onder spent time as a journalist overseas before moving a couple of years ago to Springfield, where he has friends, Day said. “It’s always been a dream of his to own a restaurant,” she said. Four employees work at the diner, which features breakfast skillets and omelets, as well as hamburgers, salads and sandwiches for lunch. No item on the menu is priced over $8.99 and most meals start at $5, Day said.
