Open for Business: Main Event Center

Posted online

Main Event Center
Ownership of downtown Nixa business Main Event Center changed hands March 14. Bryeton Cagle said she purchased the venture housed at 101B S. Main St. for an undisclosed price from Pamela Anderson. Additionally, she declined to disclose lease terms with Right Direction Properties LLC. Main Event Center offers venue rentals for birthdays, weddings, baby showers, work parties and other celebrations. The 4,000-square-foot space has a 160-person capacity. Hourly packages, which require a two-hour minimum booking per event, start at $200 per hour. Wedding packages range $1,600-$2,500. Cagle, the center’s lone employee, said she wants to host more public events at the venue along with adding photography services. After living in Nixa for around five years during her childhood, Cagle moved back in February to the Christian County town from St. Petersburg, Florida. At the same time, she started a marketing company, Bebe Marketing LLC, which she said led to discussions with Anderson about taking over the event venue.

Abby’s Acai Co.
After becoming one of 10 vendors last year at 14 Mill Market in Nixa, Abby’s Acai Co. returned May 12 to its food truck roots by setting up shop in the Rountree neighborhood. Owner Abby Casiday said she avoided relocation costs, as she already owned the food truck and supplies from when she started the business in 2021 with her mother, Kayme Voelker. The mobile eatery is located at 1411 E. Cherry St., next to the nearly century-old Spanish Mission-style building that houses Artistree Pottery LLC. Casiday said she exited the Nixa food hall April 26, noting she also has a goal of starting her own private practice as a counselor. In addition to her food venture, Casiday said she’s worked the past two years as a school counselor at Niangua Elementary, adding she’s leaving the school district this month and has started seeing clients at Christian Counseling Services. She said Abby’s Acai Co. employs six, and its menu features organic acai bowls with toppings such as fruit, granola, coconut and peanut butter.

Immersive Disney Animation
Immersive Disney Animation, a concept from Lighthouse Immersive Studios and Walt Disney Animation Studios, opened May 16 in Branson. The attraction at 3300 N. Gretna Road in the Branson Mill shopping center seeks to create an interactive display of Disney films, such as “The Lion King” and “Frozen,” by projecting images and sounds throughout the auditorium. The space previously housed the nearly 40,000-square-foot Big Air Trampoline Park, which shuttered. Rita Russo, national promotions director for Toronto-based Lighthouse Immersive, said the Disney attraction plans to remain open until January but added the company hopes to make Branson a long-term location. Officials declined to disclose the investment in the attraction. Tickets range $28-$35 for Monday-Friday shows and $46 for Saturday and Sunday. Lighthouse Immersive also produces immersive art exhibits and other attractions. Its website lists Immersive Disney Animation also open in Las Vegas and Bangkok, Thailand, as well as coming soon to Canada and Mexico.
