Recreational vehicles are the focus for a professional pivot by the owners of Joyride RV Rental LLC. Richard Williams and his daughter, Carley Joy, opened the business June 1 at 4236 S. Hillcrest Ave., which Joy said includes a 1,500-square-foot office and 1-acre lot for storage of the new travel trailers. She said they own the property and building, and startup costs were $150,000. Noting she and her father are avid outdoors people and RV owners, Joy said they perceived a need in the local market for nightly RV rentals. Amenities for the RVs include bunk beds, bathrooms, bike or kayak racks, indoor and outdoor kitchens, and smart TVs. Most are lightweight and can be pulled by small to midsize SUVs and light trucks, she said. Prices range $79-$109 nightly and require a $20 daily insurance package as well as a $75 prep fee that includes cleaning the RV and dumping the tanks. Joy said she and Williams previously owned SafeSpace Co., which sold disinfecting products, but they shuttered it last year to concentrate on Joyride.

Duckees Drive Thru
A father and son are the new owners of Duckees Drive Thru at 12042 State Highway 13 in Kimberling City. Michael Wiseman said he and his dad, Troy, who own the Table Rock Lake area business through 2 Wiseman Enterprises LLC, bought the 2,400-square-foot liquor store April 18 for an undisclosed price from AJJ Fuel LLC. Wiseman said upon buying the store they kept all employees on board, adding his wife, Brittany, leads the six-person staff as general manager. Aside from its selection of liquor, including spirits, beer, wine and hard seltzers, the shop also carries energy drinks, soft drinks, teas, juices and frozen slushies. Declining to disclose his family’s investment in store upgrades, Wiseman said Duckees also has added branded merchandise, such as hats and T-shirts, as well as expanded the food selection with hot dogs, nachos and in-house made pizza. All products also are available via Duckees drive-thru and DoorDash, he said.

Junior League of Springfield
After 30 years operating in a building it owned on East Bennett Street, Junior League of Springfield, Missouri Inc. relocated July 26 to 1616 S. Eastgate Ave. Lisa Longwell, spokesperson for the nonprofit women’s community service group, said relocation costs were $3,500 to occupy 2,000 square feet in a building it shares with the Ozark Trails Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Longwell said JLS signed a one-year lease for an undisclosed rate with Ozark Trails Council. JLS also sold its 2574 E. Bennett St. building to New Moon Studio Space LLC for $400,000, according to New Moon co-owner Kate Baird. New Moon is using it as studio space for artists. Longwell said the largely volunteer-run JLS determined it was time to sell the property to another organization that can give new life to the renovated former schoolhouse. The mission of the 1959-founded JLS, which she said has over 400 members, is to advance women’s leadership for community impact.
