Bass Pro conducts layoffs in marine division

Posted online

Bass Pro Shops has conducted layoffs through its White River Marine Group boat manufacturing division.

A company spokesperson confirmed via email that 176 employees were let go on April 18 at plants in Bolivar, Lebanon and Flippin, Arkansas. The layoffs comprised 85 in Lebanon, 70 in Flippin and 21 in Bolivar, the spokesperson said.

"Similar to others in the marine industry, we needed to make adjustments to our operations in response to the current soft demand for marine products and the overall economic climate," Bass Pro officials said in a provided statement. "We are grateful for the contributions of these team members and will be supporting them through this transition.

“As the leader in the marine industry, we have strived to deliver unmatched value and performance to our customers and believe that because of this, we have been less impacted than many others in our industry."

Following the layoffs, the company has nearly 900 employees in Lebanon, more than 500 in Flippin and roughly 400 in Bolivar, according to the spokesperson.

The layoffs at Bass Pro's White River Marine Group division were first reported by KY3.
