Kansas City-based J.E. Dunn Construction Co. moved its Springfield office Nov. 21 to 1135 E. Lakewood St., Ste. 120. The construction management firm, which has operated in Springfield for about seven years, signed a three-year lease for an undisclosed amount with Martin Investment Services LLC, said G.R. Stovall, director of preconstruction and business development. The firm previously worked from 3444 S. Campbell Ave. Senior Project Manager David Atkisson said eight of the firm’s roughly 12 Springfield employees report regularly to the 2,500-square-foot office. Current projects include James River Assembly-Wilsons Creek, Crowder College’s Missouri Alternative and Renewable Energy Technology Center and a Texas County Memorial Hospital emergency department expansion, said Atkisson, noting J.E. Great Southern Insurance
Great Southern Bank moved its insurance division Nov. 1 to 5,200 square feet at 2925 E. Battlefield Road, Ste. 120. Great Southern Insurance is led by Director Mark Roberts, said Great Southern spokeswoman Kelly Polonus. The division, which employs 17, previously was in 3,500 square feet on the third floor of 430 South Ave., she said. While there is still a bank branch on the first floor of the South Avenue building, Polonus said the move to Battlefield Road gives the insurance division greater space and visibility. Great Southern Insurance provides commercial and consumer coverage, including life and health, workers’ compensation, property, automobile, homeowners and renter’s insurance. The company works with several carriers, including Allied Insurance, America First, Electric Insurance Co., West Bend and Zurich. Hours: 8 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Columbia College-Springfield
Columbia College on Jan. 9 moved its southwest Missouri campus to Springfield from Ozark. Coursework is offered at 3271 E. Battlefield Road, Ste. 250, in 5,700 square feet leased from Sachs Real Properties LLC. Tailored toward working adults, Columbia College-Springfield offers associate and bachelor’s degrees via eight-week courses meeting one night a week and a master’s degree online. There are five sessions a year, and evening and online classes can be taken simultaneously, according to Columbia’s Web site. College spokeswoman Brandi Herrman said the Springfield campus has four classrooms, and there are three employees and roughly 175 students. With its main campus in central Missouri, Columbia College operates 35 campuses in 14 states. Hours: 9 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. Friday and by appointment.
