Just over five months after making its Springfield debut, Rockford, Illinois-based Beef-A-Roo Inc. launched its second Queen City location on July 28. Founded in 1967, the family-owned fast-casual restaurant chain has now opened six of its 15 stores outside Illinois, according to its website. Located at 3312 E. Chestnut Expressway, the new eatery fills 4,158 square feet in a building near U.S. Highway 65 formerly occupied by Hardee’s, which shuttered last year. General Manager Jake Holmes said he leads 40 employees at the store. Holmes also serves in the same role at the 1411 W. Kearney St. location, which opened in February. Company officials declined to disclose startup costs or lease terms with HJH Premium Springfield Chestnut LLC. Its menu includes burgers, roast beef sandwiches, wraps, cheddar fries, baked potatoes, salads and soups. Prices range $3-$10.50. Officials say the company plans to open several more locations, including one in Branson, later this year.

A hip joint Marshfield
A Springfield-based health care practice expanded into downtown Marshfield with the June 30 opening of A hip joint Marshfield LLC. It marks the sixth chiropractic and massage clinic for A hip joint, founded seven years ago by Drs. Eric and Tania Reavis. The new clinic at 103 E. Jefferson St. is across from the Webster County Courthouse. Eric Reavis said startup costs for the Marshfield location were $16,000, adding it is the fifth clinic owned by the company. The lone franchise location, which is in Nixa, opened in early 2021. For its 1,500-square-foot Marshfield clinic, Tania said the couple signed a one-year lease with Ozarks Elder Law LLC for $850 per month. Ozarks Elder Law bought the East Jefferson Street building in late 2018 and is leasing out roughly half of it while occupying the remainder. Like its other clinics, the four-employee Marshfield location offers chiropractic, massage, cupping and acupuncture services. Individual membership packages start at $45, according to its website.

Yolo Rolled Ice Cream
After the January opening of Yolo Rolled Ice Cream LLC in Branson, the business added a food truck July 5. Laiken Avery, co-owner of Yolo with fiance Cole Crutcher, said Chris and Kris Crutcher, parents of her fiance, launched a mobile version of the ice cream shop in a Branson food truck park at 2166 State Highway 248. Avery said there is no lease in the park, adding the Crutchers pay an undisclosed amount per month to property owner Chris Carson. The Crutchers also covered the $25,000 in startup costs, she said. Franchise details such as fees and percentage of sales to be paid to Avery and Cole Crutcher are yet to be determined. While the Yolo store at 2005 W. 76 Country Blvd., Ste. 207, also serves gelato, milkshakes and smoothies, the food truck serves a smaller menu of 10 flavors of its rolled ice cream. Avery said those include the shop’s most popular options, such as cookies and cream and Reese’s Overload, which includes peanut butter, Reese’s Pieces and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.
