The Springfield-Greene County and Christian County health departments announced new confirmed cases of the coronavirus. Christian County previously did not have any cases of the respiratory virus.
Between the two health departments, four new cases were reported yesterday and this morning. The two cases in Christian County represent the first outside Greene County in southwest Missouri, according to the Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services.
Details about the Christian County residents who tested positive were not provided in a news release.
"As a part of our effort to protect the health of our citizens, a complete follow-up investigation has been started in reference to any increased risk these cases might have presented to the public," officials said in the release.
The Springfield-Greene County Health Department this morning announced the fifth and sixth cases of the virus. The fifth case is a known household contact of the third case, while the sixth case had a domestic travel history to a known infected area, according to a news release. Both have been voluntarily self-quarantining.
The Health Department is working with its counterparts in Christian County regarding French travelers who had contact with the fourth local individual who tested positive for COVID-19. The individual and/or the travelers are known to have visited Lamberts Cafe in Ozark, the Branson Landing, Bass Pro Shops and its Hemingway's restaurant, Ocean Zen and The Big Biscuit on South Campbell Avenue, according to the release.
Assemblies of God posted on Facebook that executives Greg Mundis and Ron Maddux tested positive for the coronavirus. Springfield-Greene County Health Department spokeswoman Kathryn Wall declined to say whether the Assemblies of God employees are among already reported local cases, citing HIPAA restrictions.
“Both Ron and Greg work out of our national office on Boonville,” Assemblies of God spokesman Mark Forrester said via email, referring to the organization’s headquarters at 1445 N. Boonville Ave.
Mundis is being treated at Mercy Hospital Springfield, according to a front-desk employee at the hospital and a Facebook post from his son.
DHSS has reported 24 positive cases statewide. One death, in Boone County, was announced yesterday. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data show 10,442 cases and 150 deaths nationwide as of this morning.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
