Keep It Light, Honest, and Know Your Weaknesses
Leaders should laugh a lot! It's so important to keep it light in a cutthroat business like realty. In fact, my husband jokes that I laugh so much I seem like my own biggest fan! This business is about connecting with people and having your clients' backs.
Always be direct and honest with your clients and co-workers. Transparency is vital when time is of the essence and much is at stake. Sugarcoating is a waste of time and people will always appreciate the truth.
Force yourself to be uncomfortable. If you want to get ahead in life you have to get out of your sweats. No one succeeds in mediocrity. You must push yourself to take risks that may end in possible rejection and failure. When these risks pay off, the rewards can be astounding.
You must slow down to speed up and it's okay to fail forward. This applies directly to hiring as well. Hire for your weaknesses and don't try to do everything yourself. Take your time with candidates to make sure they are a good fit. This way you can trust them, protect your time, and grow your business. Never underestimate the power of good and bad energy because it affects your environment.
Problem solving requires creative thinking. I like to step outside the box because I hate being claustrophobic! The most important thing in business is to be proactive, not reactive.
