The husband-and-wife owners of Maxon Fine Jewelry brought on another couple as minority shareholders.
Rick and Jane McElvaine, who purchased the jewelry business from founder Joe Maxon in 1994, sold an equity stake in the company to Jessica Harmison-Olson, the store’s operations manager, and her husband Ryan Olson, Rick McElvaine said. He declined to disclose the financial terms of the deal or the percentage ownership in the business.
“All parties involved are looking forward to a very long-term transition of ownership,” he said via email.
Harmison-Olson started as operations manager for Maxon in late 2016; she’s also a co-owner of Float Trip Pickles LLC with her father, Greene County Associate Circuit Court Judge Jerry Harmison, and previously was vice president for her mother Jean Harmison’s company, Club Management Services LLC. Her husband Ryan is an attorney at Ellis, Ellis, Hammons & Johnson PC.
“We had this in mind when Jessica joined us more than three years ago,” McElvaine said in a news release. “She has the entrepreneurial spirit, style and attention to detail that Jane and I hoped to find in a young professional.”
The more than 45-year-old Maxon Fine Jewelry in January relocated to a new home at 2850 E. Battlefield Road, after previously operating at the Brentwood Center. The store sells new and used jewelry, as well as watches by Rolex, Tudor and Tag Heuer, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.
