KY3 Inc. hires Kansas sales manager as next general manager

Posted online
KY3 Inc. has hired Brian McDonough, general sales manager of KWCH-TV in Wichita, Kan., as the successor for Mike Scott, who will retire March 31.

McDonough will step in April 1 as the next president and general manager, according to a KY3 news release.

"What has been built over the years by the employees of KY3 Inc. is truly remarkable," McDonough said in the release. "I have big shoes to fill and am anxiously looking forward to the challenge."

McDonough has worked since 2006 as general sales manager for KWCH-TV, which is owned by Mishawaka, Ind.-based Schurz Communications Inc., the same communications holding company for KY3.

McDonough's responsibilities will include providing leadership for KY3, the Ozarks CW, 24/7 Weather and KSPR.

"Brian McDonough is a strong and focused leader with a proven track record of building successful employee teams," Schurz Communications Senior Vice President Marci Burdick said in the release. "Coming from within Schurz Communications, he shares our values of strong service to customers, viewers and community.

"And, as a Midwesterner, he is well familiar with the Ozarks and a frequent visitor to the region."

Following his retirement as KY3 president and general manager, Scott will serve in a consulting role for Schurz Communications, primarily managing programming acquisition, or the purchase of syndicated television programs, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.
