The Branson Board of Aldermen is scheduled to vote Tuesday on the sale of excess property that would be a key step toward an affordable housing development from a Kansas City group.
The board will decide whether to sell a former high school, located at 300 S. Sixth St., for $25,000 to Prairie Fire Development Group LLC. The property was marketed “as is” and received two bids – the other was for $11,100 by Gold Nugget Properties LLC, according to the board’s Sept. 24 agenda.
The board already gave preliminary approval to Prairie Fire’s plans on Aug. 27, with a resolution of support.
Plans call on the creation of up to 48 units of mixed-income housing, according to the proposal submitted to the board last month.
Prairie Fire intends to utilize tax credits and grant funds from the state.
The company, according to its proposal, has more than 500 housing units in the Midwest, with another 400 under development.
A franchise store of a Branson West-based quilting business made its Queen City debut; Grateful Vase launched in Lebanon; and Branson entertainment venue The Social Birdy had its grand opening.
