Game Changers: Andy Kuntz

Posted online
Andy Kuntz has turned his ma’s and pa’s Osage Beach frozen custard stand into a regional franchise chain. John and Carol Kuntz started Andy’s Frozen Custard in 1986, the year their son graduated high school. Following their tracks, the younger Kuntz stepped in, and now, as president, he leads business development with a focus on franchising. There are five corporate-owned stores, including four in Springfield. The 16 total store locations span between northeast Texas and downtown and north Chicago. The company has been flagged by the state as a “cheetah firm” – defined by the Missouri Department of Economic Development as a company that doubled its employment between 2001 and 2006.
