FIFA, the international governing board for soccer, is creating an emergency fund to support the industry during the coronavirus pandemic.
The organization is considering tapping into some of its $2.7 billion cash reserve for the fund. It could be worth hundreds of millions of dollars, people familiar with the matter told The New York Times.
The fund may amount to the largest financial response to the coronavirus by a major sports governing body.
