Experts warn of risk of extinction from AI

Leading experts on Tuesday issued a warning that limits should be imposed on artificial intelligence models.

"Mitigating the risk of extinction from AI should be a global priority alongside other societal-scale risks such as pandemics and nuclear war," the experts said in a statement posted to the Center for AI Safety's website.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Geoffrey Hinton, the so-called godfather of AI, were among the hundreds of people who signed the statement.
