The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has issued an emergency order that impacts a weedkiller product.
The EPA has suspended all registrations of dimethyl tetrachloroterephthalate, also called DCPA or Dacthal, under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act. Agency officials say the weedkiller is linked to health risks in unborn babies whose pregnant mothers were exposed to it.
"DCPA is so dangerous that it needs to be removed from the market immediately," said Michal Freedhoff, assistant administrator for the Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention.
The pesticide's sole manufacturer is AMVAC Chemical Corp., according to Quartz.

Why is the US always so far behind... DCPA has been banned for use on crops in the European Union since 2009. We even still us red food coloring.
