Curb Appeal: September home listings lowest on year

Posted online

September was a soft month in local high-dollar home listings, compared with the other months of 2020, according to Southern Missouri Regional MLS data.

For the monthly editorial series Curb Appeal, Springfield Business Journal compiled a list of single-family homes within city limits that have an asking price of $500,000 or more. High-dollar listings in Springfield declined to nine last month, compared with 21 in August and 12 in July.

September listings were below the previous low of 10, set both in April and January, according to past reporting.

However, high-end homes listed in September are seeking a collective $6.7 million in asking prices. The lowest aggregate came in April, when the total was $6.6 million, and the highest was $16.7 million in May.

The highest listing last month is in southwest Springfield. The home in Timberbrook subdivision near Weaver and Cox roads is listed for $1.64 million, the only city property entering the market above $1 million during September.

The latest data from the Greater Springfield Board of Realtors show the average sales price for local homes in August was $223,545 and that the residences spent an average 25 days on the market before selling.
