CoxHealth to build 2 new clinics, totaling $19M

Posted online

CoxHealth is adding two new southwest Missouri clinics, representing a planned investment of $19 million.

Kaitlyn McConnell, spokeswoman for the Springfield-based health care system, said plans call for a $10 million clinic in Nixa and a $9 million facility in Ozark.

The 30,000-square-foot, standalone facilities are being called “super clinics” by CoxHealth officials. The clinics will have primary and urgent care, pediatric offices and physical therapy, and additionally the Ozark facility will have a pharmacy, according to a news release.

“These consolidated facilities are a new model for the health system,” said Max Buetow, vice president of regional services at CoxHealth, in the release. “We believe it represents where health care is headed and will offer even greater convenience to our patients.”

McConnell said H Design Group LLC and BSA LifeStructures are working to design both projects. J.E. Dunn Construction Co. was hired as general contractor for the Nixa clinic, with KCI Construction Co. selected to build the facility in Ozark. The companies are scheduled to break ground next month and wrap up the projects in fall 2020.

The new clinics will replace primary care and urgent care services currently operating in Nixa and Ozark. The Nixa clinic will be built on land CoxHealth purchased on U.S. Route 160, just north of Highway 14. CoxHealth also bought land in Ozark at highways 65 and CC for the second new clinic, McConnell said.

Earlier this week, Mercy opened a $5.8 million, 13,000-square-foot clinic at 2716 W. Republic Road.
