Diageo North America, a corporate partner of Convoy of Hope, is donating 10 million cans of water to the Springfield nonprofit.

The 12-ounce cans of water go toward Convoy of Hope's humanitarian relief efforts, according to a news release. Convoy of Hope spokesperson Ethan Forhetz referred a question on the cash value of the donation to a Diageo North America official who could not be reached immediately for comment this morning.

"Our effort to produce 10 million cans of drinking water builds on our tradition of innovation and directly supports communities in the U.S. that have been struck by disaster," said Marsha McIntosh, senior vice president of supply strategy planning and logistics for Diageo North America, in the release. "We are proud of our ability to use our scale and the opportunity to partner with Convoy of Hope to build up essential resources for crisis response."

The cans were filled at Diageo North America's Lincolnway manufacturing facility in Plainfield, Illinois.

"Diageo’s donation of 10 million cans will fill a critical need during Convoy’s disaster relief efforts," Forhetz said in the release.

How interesting that the Assemblies of God-affiliated charity is accepting this donation from one of the world's largest producers of alcoholic drinks, and fills the water cans in the same factory that, according to a Diageo press release, "...produces malt-based beverages and spirits-based ready-to-drink cocktails."
