Community Financial picks CEO to succeed 32-year exec

Posted online
The Community Financial Credit Union Board of Directors selected a new CEO to fill the shoes of Cathy Stroud, who is retiring after 32 years at the helm.

Loretta Roney, who has more than 13 years of experience in the financial services industry, most recently as president and CEO of Highway Alliance Credit Union in Jefferson City, takes over as the Springfield credit union's president and CEO on June 2, according to a news release.

"We’re confident that Loretta has the experience and vision to guide CFCU into the future," board Chairman Bill Jameson said in the release.

Stroud has worked in the credit union industry for over 40 years. During her tenure as president and CEO of CFCU, the Springfield credit union has grown its assets to more than $60 million – up from $7.5 million. She also served as chairwoman of the Missouri Credit Union Association board 1991-93 and has been a member of the Missouri Credit Union Commission since 1998.

CFCU, which was founded in 1935, counts about 7,400 members. Membership is open to residents of nine southwest Missouri counties: Christian, Dade, Dallas, Greene, Lawrence, Polk, Stone, Taney and Webster, according to the release.[[In-content Ad]]
