CMH hires J.E. Dunn Construction for $77M campus expansion

Citizens Memorial Hospital has hired J.E. Dunn Construction Group Inc. for a large-scale campus expansion project in Bolivar.

The CMH board entered into a construction management contract with J.E. Dunn Construction, according to a news release. The company will oversee the $77 million hospital expansion and renovation project announced last summer.

“We are really excited about partnering with J.E. Dunn to build our new hospital expansion,” said Michael Calhoun, CEO and executive director of CMH and the Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation, in the release. “This is a big step in the process. We have our whole team assembled to build it.”

In announcing the project last year, CMH officials said HMN Architects Inc. was approved as the project architect but that selecting a general contractor was still months away.

J.E. Dunn Construction, which is based in Kansas City and has a Springfield office, was chosen from seven construction management companies that answered a request for qualifications, according to the release.

A groundbreaking is expected in the fall for the project, which is designed to increase patient capacity and upgrade facilities. A low-interest $57 million loan from USDA Rural Development is among financing pieces for the project, according to CMH officials.
