City's October sales tax check holds steady

The city of Springfield's 1 percent sales tax check for October from the Missouri Department of Revenue edged up .23 percent to $3.224 million, compared to $3.217 in the same month last year.

The October sales check follows a banner month for the city, which collected $4.76 million in September, the largest sales tax check received since September 2007, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.

Including the October sales tax check, fiscal 2011 year-to-date revenue is up 8.9 percent to $13.79 million, compared to $12.66 million at the same time last year, according to a city news release.

Sales tax checks represent collections from previous months.
