Near his popular barbecue restaurant City Butcher LLC, owner Cody Smith is planning a new concept.
Lucky Tiger Sandwich Co. LLC is targeting an August opening at 3654 S. Campbell Ave., located two spaces over from City Butcher in Kickapoo Corners, according to the company’s Facebook page.
Lucky Tiger fills the space left vacant by Turbo Fire Pizza, which opened in May 2017. It’s unclear when Turbo Fire closed; the pizza shop’s phone number and website are no longer operational.
Smith, who could not be reached for comment by deadline, filed Lucky Tiger’s LLC paperwork with the Missouri secretary of state in April.
“We will be doing some menu development over the next few weeks,” a June 18 Facebook post reads. “Thursday we will begin work on our take on the classic double cheeseburger and a lemongrass-brined, buttermilk fried chicken sandwich.”
Smith opened City Butcher with then business partner Jeremy Smith in November 2014. Their downtown CB Social House concept opened in 2016. Under new ownership, the venture now called Social on Patton is scheduled to close June 30, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.
The Springfield News-Leader was first to report on the Lucky Tiger plans.
