China censors part of US Democratic debate

China abruptly blacked out the sixth Democratic presidential debate.

TV screens went dark in China after PBS moderator Judy Woodruff asked Mayor Pete Buttigieg if the United States should boycott the 2022 Beijing Olympics over allegations of a mass detention of Uyghur citizens in China.

The feed remained cut for about nine minutes as candidates discussed China issues ranging from the Hong Kong protests to military tensions in the South China Sea.
