State Rep. Cody Smith, R-Carthage, is running for Missouri treasurer.
He plans to challenge Vivek Malek for the Republican nomination. Malek was appointed to the role by Gov. Mike Parson in January.
Franklin County-area financial adviser Lucas Johnson also has entered the treasurer's race as a Democrat.
