The city of Branson is lowering property taxes for both residences and commercial businesses.
The change, enacted by the Branson Board of Aldermen at its Aug. 25 meeting, decreases the 2020 property tax to roughly 57 cents for every $100 worth of assessed valuation, according to a news release. That's down from 61 cents assessed in 2019.
This year, the owner of a $150,000 property would pay $853.20, compared with $911.55 under the previous rate. Branson spokesperson Melody Pettit said the savings rate is equal for residential and commercial property owners.
City officials cited increased property values due to construction and annexations for the tax change, according to the release.
Branson property taxes are due Dec. 31 to the Taney County collector's office.
Moseley’s Discount Office Products was purchased; Side Chick opened in Branson; and the Springfield franchise store of NoBaked Cookie Dough changed ownership.
