The American Institute of Architects-Springfield hired an executive director after previously contracting the duties out to a third party.
Karen Spence, AIA Springfield board president-elect, said Mica Moffett is scheduled to start this month. She takes over the job tasks previously operated by Club Management Services LLC.
“What’s happening is we’re moving away from a Club Management Services type of system to our own,” Spence said. “We’re hoping Mica can really grow the tradition.”
AIA Springfield represents more than 200 members at some 30 firms in the area. Spence said the group’s services include advocacy at the state and federal levels, as well as connecting members with continuing education opportunities.
The group in May ranked No. 8 on Springfield Business Journal’s list of the area’s largest industry networking groups, with 140 members.
Spence said Moffett previously worked in an administrative role for a local architecture office, but she was unsure which one. Moffett could not be reached for comment by deadline.
Moffett is the sole employee of AIA Springfield, Spence said, noting an intern also does graphic design work for the group.
