AirTran Airways, subsidiary of AirTran Holdings Inc. (NYSE: AAI), announced Feb. 23 the addition of three new nonstop flights to Branson Airport, according to a news release.
The flights are to and from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, in Glen Burnie, Md.; Chicago Midway Airport; and the William P. Hobby Airport, in Houston, Texas.
"Branson's family-friendly sights and sounds make it one of America's favorite vacation destinations," Tad Hutcheson, AirTran Airways vice president of marketing and sales, said in the release. "AirTran Airways prides itself on customer service and moved quickly when the demand for more service to Branson became clear."
Approximately 8 million travelers visited Branson in 2010, according to the release.
Previously, Branson Airport had flight locations to Atlanta and Orlando, Fla., via AirTran Airways.
A franchise store of a Branson West-based quilting business made its Queen City debut; Grateful Vase launched in Lebanon; and Branson entertainment venue The Social Birdy had its grand opening.
