2019 40 Under 40: Dustin Brown, 36

Vice President of Integration, Burrell Behavioral Health

Posted online

When Dustin Brown assumed the role of vice president of integration at Burrell Behavioral Health, he was tasked with not only building his department, but also organizing the nursing program serving 17 counties. He didn’t hesitate, and Brown now oversees 75 providers and clinical services.

The doctor of clinical psychology graduated from Forest Institute of Professional Psychology.

Brown additionally serves as regional training director for the National Psychology Training Consortium and a contractor with Four County Counseling Center in Indiana, where he audits diagnoses and treatment plans.

What was your first job? A warehouse line worker at NewStream Enterprises.

What are you doing to make the Ozarks better? Making behavioral health more accessible and helping to reduce the stigma of mental health treatment by making it a routine part of comprehensive medical care.

How many times do you hit the snooze button? It’s too tempting, so I’ve disabled it.

What was your professional aha moment? I was preparing for a career in medicine while maintaining a dual major in psychology. I felt as if I was at a sort of crossroads … when I happened to stumble across the emerging area of integrated health care.

What app gets you through the day? I wish I could say some profound, business-oriented app; however, I’m a complete “Wordscapes” fanatic.
