A Springfield Public Schools employee assembles food supplies April 16 at an Ozarks Food Harvest Mobile Food Pantry event to benefit students of Carver Middle School and Jeffries and Sherwood elementary schools. Fresh produce and protein is provided by SGC Foodservice, which won a bid through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farmers to Families Food Box Program. The Springfield-based regional food supplier is distributing the food to Missouri’s network of six regional food banks, including Ozarks Food Harvest.

The first piece of Sculpture Walk Springfield’s new collection was installed May 12 at Tie & Timber Beer Co. Titled “Do Some Good with your Superpowers,” local artist Doug Cox made the 8.5-foot stainless steel statue of dogs and cats wearing superhero capes. The installation was a change from Sculpture Walk’s plan to reveal the collection at the brewery’s May 5 Festival of Arts & Music, which was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Sculptures will now be installed one by one.
