Project description: A new fire station is being constructed on the site of a 1968-built station that was demolished for the LEED-certified project. The building includes living quarters, a kitchen and dining area and firetruck bays for Springfield Fire Department personnel. The exterior has a red brick veneer, similar to the old-style firehouse, and has reinforced concrete for the truck bays. Esterly Schneider & Associates Inc. is the project architect, and frankZdesign LLC is the landscape architect. Engineering work is provided by Boarman Kroos Vogel Group Inc. (Minneapolis), structural; Anderson Engineering Inc., civil; and RTM Engineering Consultants LLC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing.
