CoxHealth Center for Prosthetics and Orthotics
On Aug. 4, CoxHealth opened its Center for Prosthetics and Orthotics at 2224 W. Sunset St. in a hospital-owned building formerly used for its durable medical equipment services. Clinic Manager Chris Cobb said a team of 10 employees perform evaluations and fittings, as well as on-site fabrication, for prosthetic and orthotic patients. The brainchild of Fred Lerche, the center’s administrative director, the roughly 8,000-square-foot clinic also houses physical therapy staff to expedite treatment and rehabilitation, such as gate patterns and alignments for amputees, Cobb said. With expected patient volumes of 30-40 per week, Cobb said the center works closely with CoxHealth physicians and takes referral orders from outside the hospital’s network. Hours: 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday through Friday and on-call. Phone: (417) 730-2000. Web: CoxHealth.com

Dandylions
Gabby Lampe opened Dandylions children’s store Aug. 8 at 1907 S. Glenstone Ave., Ste. C. Carrying locally made and boutique brand clothing, toys and accessories for children up to 6 years old, Lampe is the store’s sole owner and employee. The former marketing director for the Forest Institute’s Murney Clinic, Lampe said she’s spent the last few years producing handmade items for sale at Relics Antique Mall. Dandylions sells goods from six local designers, including Little Uptown Girls, LillyK Designs and Little Avocados, as well as GroVia cloth diapers, Joah Love and Sweet Petunia apparel, and Active Teethers. She said prices range from $15 for a swaddle to $50 for clothing. Lampe signed a one-year lease with Plaza Towers LLC for $775 per month. Hours: 10:30 a.m.–6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 9:30 a.m.–5 p.m. Saturday. Phone: (417) 890-4667. Web: ShopDandylions.com

The Made In The USA General Store
Brian and Kim Karn opened The Made In The USA General Store on Sept. 9 inside the Branson Mill Craft Village, 3300 N. Gretna Road. The 5,000-square-foot store carries items from some 300 U.S. companies, said Brian Karn, who has 30 years of retail experience. Beyond the nostalgic front porch entrance and old-fashioned soda fountain inside, shelves are lined with toys, clothing, tools, housewares, gourmet foods and crafts, as well as a candy counter. Karn said products made in southwest Missouri include Carousel Candles, of Ozark; Cedar Creek Beef Jerky, of El Dorado Springs; and “USA Made” T-shirts, of Aldrich. Karn, who owned two Branson convenience stores – a Conoco across from IHOP and Cedar Junction near Big Cedar Lodge – before selling in 2009, said the $300,000 startup is partially funded by a private investor. He got the idea for the store three years ago watching ABC News’ “Made in America” segment. Hours: 9 a.m.–7 p.m. daily. Phone: (417) 336-8721.
