Conway said the five-employee firm also performs consulting for architecture firms, such as Paragon Architecture Inc. and Hunter & Millard Architects Inc. in Joplin. Conway and Duncan have over 40 years of combined experience in electrical engineering and mechanical design projects, working previously for Olsson Associates Inc. and LaRose & Duncan Engineering Inc., respectively. Declining to disclose startup costs, Conway said the business partners own the 2,000-square-foot office space. Hours: 7:30 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Phone: (417) 881-1586.

Big Whiskey’s American Bar & Grill
Big Whiskey’s American Bar & Grill opened June 20 in Ozark at 602 N. 25th St. off Highway 14. The ownership group – comprising Paul Sundy, Michael Heslin, Randy Gildehaus, Jamie Clark and Austin Herschend – leases the space from B&B Theatres for undisclosed terms. Originally, the operators targeted an early 2014 opening, but Sundy said they added more space and redesigned the restaurant, going to 4,300 square feet from 3,600 square feet. The restaurant seats 240 and employs 60 people, Sundy said. Big Whiskey’s serves steaks, burgers and pasta in the $7 to $20 range. Sundy and partners are expanding the Big Whiskey’s brand after selling off and closing two Parlor 88 eateries earlier this year. With five Big Whiskey’s in operation, including in Little Rock, Ark., Sundy and partners plan to open 11 more in the next five years, with new markets under consideration in Branson, Columbia, Kansas City and Joplin. Hours: 11–1:30 a.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m.–midnight Sunday. Phone: (417) 485-3800. Web: BigWhiskeys.com
