Architecture
H Design Group LLC promoted Matt Capen, Bryon Oster and Brad Samuels to principals, and KJ Romine, Brandon Smith and Kate Whitaker to associates. Capen has worked at the firm since 2004, Oster since 2011, Samuels since 2015, Romine since 2018, Smith since 2018 and Whitaker since 2019.

John Cox was hired by BRP Architects as an architectural designer. Cox recently graduated with a master’s in architecture from Drury University.

Banking & Finance
Regent Bank hired Luke Dawson as a mortgage loan originator. With a bachelor’s in sociology from Missouri State University, Dawson has six years’ experience with the Army National Guard and most recently worked at Paddio in Springfield.

Education
Kickapoo High School senior Youngha Rissler received a $1,000 scholarship from Mediacom Communications Corp. Through the company’s World Class Scholarship Program, Rissler was recognized for excellence in leadership and academics.

Health Care
Citizens Memorial Hospital appointed Dr. Chad Law to its medical staff. Law, who specializes in family medicine at CMH’s Ash Grove Family Medical Center, served 28 years in the U.S. Air Force and is a member of the U.S. Air Force Reserves. Law attended medical school at the Kansas City University of Medicine and Bioscience College of Osteopathic Medicine, and he completed an internship at Capital Region Medical Center and a family medicine residency at Saint Louis University Scott Air Force Base.

Media
KCOZ, the student-operated radio station at College of the Ozarks, won three awards at the Missouri Broadcasters Association Awards Banquet. KCOZ won first-place awards for social media and video content, as well as a second-place honor for a student-focused public service announcement.

Springfield Business Journal was the recipient of three national awards at The Alliance of Area Business Publishers’ annual conference. SBJ was recognized with silver honors for best feature series, best bylined commentary and best podcast.

SBJ founder Dianne Elizabeth Osis was selected for induction into the Missouri Newspaper Hall of Fame. Osis retired from SBJ in January 2017 after founding the publication in July 1980.

Nonprofit
The Developmental Center of the Ozarks Board of Directors appointed two new members. Joining the nonprofit board are Becky Scorse, executive vice president and chief lending officer of Guaranty Bank, and Tony Polodna, local manager for Chase Card Services.

Restaurant
Springfield-based restaurant franchisee Hamra Enterprises LLC’s Wendy’s eatery in Republic was the top fundraiser among over 6,500 restaurants in a recent campaign. The Wendy’s store, located at 1329 U.S. 60 East in Republic, raised $27,489 for the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption through the annual Frosty Key Tag fundraiser.

Retail
Jeremy Chapman, co-founder of The Acoustic Shoppe, graduated from the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program. Chapman was chosen from a competitive pool of finalists for the 20th national cohort of the initiative, which helps small-business owners learn more about the financials of their business and ways to grow their company. Chapman dedicated more than 120 hours to the program.
