New GM hired for Chateau on the Lake

Jon Davidson brings 30 years of experience to Chateau on the Lake.

Chateau on the Lake Resort, Spa & Convention Center named a hospitality industry veteran as its new general manager.

Jon Davidson comes to the Branson hotel with 30 years of experience, most recently as president and chief operating officer of Shangri-La Golf Club, Resort & Marina in Monkey Island, Oklahoma, according to a news release. He succeeds two-year General Manager John Parker, who was promoted to regional director of operations in Kansas City for Chateau on the Lake parent company Atrium Hospitality, a spokesperson for the Branson hotel said.

Davidson leads a resort with 301 rooms, 43,500 square feet of meeting space, a spa, tennis courts and 10-story atrium.

“It is an exceptional resort, with an incredible setting, wonderful on-site offerings and a truly first-class staff,” he said in the release.

Atrium Hospitality took over operation of Chateau on the Lake in 2018, when it assumed control of dozens of former John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts properties, including Springfield’s University Plaza Hotel & Convention Center.

Georgia-based Atrium Hospitality – held by JD Holdings LLC and owner-investor Jonathan Eilian — added the hotels to its portfolio as part of JQH Hotels & Resorts’ bankruptcy proceedings following the death of hotelier John Q. Hammons. JD Holdings lined up some $1 billion to take over most of the assets of the bankrupted Hammons estate, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.

In 2018, when Parker became general manger of Chateau on the Lake Resort, he succeeded 20-year leader Stephen Marshall, who retired, according to past reporting.
