NASA has awarded a five-year contract with a maximum total value of $4.82 billion.
Intuitive Machines was selected to build moon data satellites through the contract. The company's stock rose more than 40% on the news.
"This contract marks an inflection point in Intuitive Machines' leadership in space communications and navigation," Intuitive Machines CEO Steve Altemus said in a statement.
