Missouri Senate declines to override Parson vetoes

Posted online

While the Missouri House of Representatives voted to override 14 of Gov. Mike Parson’s vetoes, the Senate declined to take up the measure.

Sen. Lincoln Hough, R-Springfield, chair of the Appropriations Committee, had the responsibility of bringing up the budget overrides for discussion but did not.

“When I look at the necessary votes to override a governor being 23 [of 34] in this chamber, I'm not sure that we get there. And I don't really like to come out here and do things when I don't know what the outcome is going to be,” Hough said, according to St. Louis Public Radio.
