Remember Zack Brown and his much talked about potato salad Kickstarter? Turns out the $55,000 he raised is going to good use – other than to make potato salad.
PotatoStock 2014 kicks off this weekend in downtown Columbia, Ohio, and The Associated Press reports it promises to be an all-out potato party for a good cause.
The all-ages, charity-minded party will feature bands, food trucks, beer vendors, potato-sack races and definitely potato salad, including donated supplies from the Idaho Potato Commission and corporate sponsors to whip up 300 pounds of the stuff for the event.
According to AP, Brown partnered with the Columbus Foundation to start an endowment that will aid area charities that fight hunger and homelessness. The account, started with $20,000 in post-campaign corporate donations, will grow after proceeds from PotatoStock are added.
The 31-year-old Brown initially started a the crowdfunding campaign to raise $10 to pay for his first attempt at making potato salad. He ended up raising $55,492 after the campaign went viral.
