it is important for a community of our size to have multiple options when it comes to banking. It is prudent to have your business and personal accounts separate. we always took that advice when we were working and owning a business. now that we are retired, our personal and rental property accounts are w/ the same bank. normally that is no problem. but 2 weeks ago as we were leaving town our mail arrived and we looked thru it and had 3 rent checks. our home has been broken into before even though our alarm was set, but the thief was quicker than the police, and yes checks were stolen. so we went to the closest teller machine and we found my husbands bank card would not let him access our rental account. so, on the way out of town we had to go to a night deposit box. there are plenty of vacant bank buildings and office spaces in our town. more banks less empty buildings and more competition is great.
