The Federal Trade Commission voted to block Tempur Sealy's proposed $4 billion purchase of Mattress Firm.
FTC officials said the deal would allow the combined entity “to suppress competition and raise prices for mattresses for millions of consumers."
Tempur Sealy is planning to challenge the decision.
