The owner of Springfield vehicle dealership Queen City Motors has pleaded guilty to federal charges.
Chris King late last month pleaded guilty to a count each of aggravated identity theft, wire fraud and wire fraud conspiracy, according to court records on file with the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri.
An investigation by law enforcement officials into King and Queen City Motors found he and others allegedly submitted at least 30 fraudulent automobile loan applications and received nearly $800,000, according to his guilty plea document.
The victims in the case applied for car loans at Queen City Motors but ultimately declined to purchase vehicles at the dealership, according to the court document. The court is seeking restitution in the case.
An attempt to reach King at Queen City Motors was not immediately successful by deadline.
